Vic Kingston, a private investigator, is attacked while on a case. He manages to escape, ending up in Evan Reed’s backyard. Evan takes him in, offering him shelter once Vic convinces him he’s not a crook. Reluctantly, Vic explains he is trying to stop someone who is blackmailing his client.

After a second attempt by his attackers, who have discovered where he is hiding, two mysterious men appear. They have obtained information Vic needs and seem more than willing to help him with his case.
